Summers are long, hot and dry. Large diurnal range. Best soils consist of layers of red slate with particles of mica that reflect heat. Steep slopes make hand harvesting and bush vine training needed.
Catalunya Region notes: Known for its Cava sparkling wines. Most vineyards are concentrated along the coastal plain and the hills south of Barcelona.
Spain notes: Joven, Crianza, Reserva, and Gran Reserva relate to ageing periods. |
