Climate(s) Moderate Continental
Notes Horseshoe shaped valley with steep slopes for vineyards. Poor hillside soil results in excellent wines.
Piemonte Region / IGT notes: Long cold winters and summers with thunderstorms, hail and fog. In the foothills of the alps (500-2500 ft).
Northern Italy notes: Dry, short summers. Pergola's were commonly used to protect the grapes from sunburning. VSP is now more common.
Italy notes: Italian wines are named for the Region they are made in, not the grapes used in the wine.

Red Barbera Grape Grape notes: Late ripening grape.
Red Dolcetto Grape Grape notes: Early ripening and can be planted in cooler sites.
Red Nebbiolo Grape The only grape for the DOCG. Ripens slowly at this altitude.
Grape notes: Produces high acidity and high tannin wines. Red fruit aromas with some herb and floral notes. Difficult to grow successfully and ripens late.
